I sent my pictures of these rocks to a geology professor at a local university, and here is what he said:

"In any case, from the photographs, I’m sure these are metamorphic rocks (either schists or gneisses, depending on the composition). They could well be from the Philadelphia area. I’d need to see them in person to make a better assessment."
